Enob Fire was established in 1990 and is the leader in the off-site application of intumescent fire protection.

The purpose at that time was to develop a capability to apply primer and multi-coat paint systems to structural steelwork, through an automated production line process, with the aim of harnessing the latest technology in order to gain improvements in quality and productivity.

Enob Fire went on to develop a process to apply intumescent fire protection to structural steelwork, an activity which had previously been the domain of on site applicators, and where the off-site treatment had taken place using traditional/paint shop facilities, with varying degrees of success.

The system was patented and proved successful and the off-site intumescent industry was born.

In Early 2004 Enob Fire invested heavily and re-located to a new custom designed facility in Scunthorpe. The plant at Foxhills Industrial Estate is better suited to modern quick-drying, intumescent coatings, which are manually applied by highly skilled intumescent technicians.
This increases efficiency by ensuring minimum waste and increased output of the plant which can now handle up to 20,000 tonnes of fabricated steelwork each year.

Enob Fire operates a 100% quality control regime in accordance with SCI p 160, the Industry Standard for off site applied thin film intumescent coatings.

At each stage of the coating process, rigorous quality assurance measures are implemented to ensure that each member receives the correct thickness of intumescent fire protection for the designed fire resistance period. Readings are taken using the latest Elcometer instruments, which upload the batch readings to a bespoke computer programme for analysis, by the quality manager.

Enob Fire has always believed that the responsibility for the integrity of the fire protection coating should rest with a single contractor, and includes within the standard package, touch up of all minor transit / erection damage to the fire protective coating, and where appropriate provides a decorative finish, including quality decorative coatings for public areas, or where the finish will be liable to close scrutiny.

In order to provide a “one stop shop” for all fire protection works, Enob Fire now offers a complete service for both onsite and off site protection including coatings, boarding systems and fire stopping.
