Bone Group is a privately owned company based in Central Scotland which operates primarily within the Steel Construction Industry. The company was established in 1938 by Alex Bone and has grown over the years to become one of the largest steel fabrication and construction companies in the United Kingdom and in the Middle East. The Group operates from regional offices throughout the United Kingdom and in the United Arab Emirates and services clients from three main manufacturing facilities in Wishaw in Central Scotland, Longtown in Cumbria and Scunthorpe in Lancashire. The group has also formed strategic partnerships throughout the world which enables the company to offer similar services to the same high standards and quality as those provided from the Bone Group.
The group has developed into a steel construction company which provides the full steelwork package and ensures that the most cost effective solutions are developed by value and fire engineering structures prior to the inclusion of additional packages - all of which are managed by the Bone Steel Project Management Teams, ensuring efficiency and speed of construction on site.
In the early 1990's Sandy Bone pioneered the development of a process for applying intumescent coatings within a highly controlled factory environment. The process has since been further developed, and refined, and within the constructional steelwork industry Enob Fire is regarded as world leaders in this field. The company has undertaken works at the Glaxo Smithkline HQ and at the new Wembley National Stadium in London as well as numerous projects throughout the UK.
In 2001 ZBS Buildings was formed as a partnership between Zamil Steel of Saudi Arabia, Sumitomo Corporation of Japan and Bone Steel from the UK. The company was established to provide pre-engineered buildings throughout the UK and in selected areas within the EC. Since then the partnership has developed and now operates within the Gulf Countries.
Skelton Onsite was set up in 2002 to provide a service to both Bone Steel and external clients for onsite facilities management and plant hire. The company has progressively grown and now undertakes such works as maintenance at Celtic Park and emergency repair works to a number of inner city London buildings.
In 2004 Bone Steel Middle East was formally registered in Dubai. From the Emirates Towers HQ, the team is able to bring the best of British engineering and Project Management to the Gulf and can offer significant cost savings and innovation to a relatively inexperienced steelwork market. Works undertaken include the Grandstand and Marketing Building at the recently opened Dubai Autodrome.
